Los Angeles Explodes in Celebration as Dodgers Secure Back-to-Back World Series Championship
The City of Angels witnessed citywide festivities after the Dodgers won a thrilling seven-match World Series title. Supporters worldwide united with Angelenos in celebration, marking the initial time in 25 years that a franchise has secured back-to-back championships.
Victory Parade Draws Massive Crowds
Local events included a procession through the city center on the morning of the parade, a ticketed rally at Dodger Stadium, and impromptu gatherings throughout the city.
Online footage show countless of Los Angeles residents packing city center avenues, many displaying handmade banners and Dodger flags. The team was seen riding high on a double-decker bus through the crowds, hoisting the championship trophy high.
“My focus is already about the third time we’re going to achieve this,” the star player remarked through an interpreter.
The parade route concluded at the stadium, where the team emerged to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard spinning music and the artist driving a light blue classic car around the stadium’s outfield.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Athlete Responses
Festivities began well before the procession, with Dodgers fans lighting fireworks in the streets of Downtown Los Angeles on Sunday night.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, awarded the MVP of the championship, commented directly about the win.
“We refuse to lose,” he stated. “I love the Dodgers. This city means everything to me.”
Mixed Reactions and Community Spirit
In contrast, Mark Walter was met with a less warm welcome at the celebration. Video footage from the gathering seem to depict Walter taking the stage to a combination of cheers and boos, with jeers punctuating his address.
The championship acted as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for the city. An approximate 225,000 people showed up to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to Dodgers player one athlete, fans this year demonstrated equal or greater enthusiasm.
“I feel like it’s nearly twice from last year,” he said. “The supporters are incredible. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
