Supporters Urge Custody of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of the actress are urging that a man who leaped a fence and seized the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A circulating footage depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen shoving aside media personnel and charging at Grande while the cast proceeded down a promenade flanked by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly pulled the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being arrested", though official papers revealed that he was scheduled to attend court on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
History of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram feed contains clips of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last year.
"There needs to be action applied against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," commented an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user wrote.
Followers Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Well-being
Numerous followers criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the end of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented one more message on Instagram.
Some fans also questioned event staff at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while some demanded online networks to remove Mr Wen's content.
Response and Premiere Information
In clips circulating online, Grande appeared shocked when she was grabbed by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has remained silent on the incident, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of fans had gathered in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The motion picture, to be launched on November 21, is the second of a two-film interpretation of the acclaimed Broadway and West End production Wicked, which centers on the unlikely bond between two contrasting witches.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and scored ten Oscar nominations, securing a pair for excellent wardrobe and production design.
