The 22-year-old tennis player Emma Raducanu concludes the current season and has decided to continue with trainer for 2026.

The British player advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slam events during the season.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain will not compete in her final two events in 2025 due to a health issue that has affected her for the last week and a half.

At 22 years old had planned to participate in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to rest and recuperate ahead of launching next year's training.

Those preparations are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as the pair will keep partnering for the upcoming season.

Raducanu had her blood pressure taken in her opening round with Ann Li in Wuhan and withdrew when behind 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

Another medical visit was necessary a visit from the doctor at the recent Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to local wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.

She was also playing with clear difficulty in the deciding set in the match with Zhu due to the lower back problem that has troubled her during parts of the season.

These outcomes followed a positive campaign, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally for the first time for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points prior to falling to Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.

She secured 28 matches during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.

As Britain's top player made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed during the tournament before losing in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

She was coached by Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in in the coming months.

She mentioned that a three-day test period with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She came very close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in August's Cincinnati tournament.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she reached the third round prior to losing to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
